Uk today who are they?

I had a call from what sounded like an asian call center claiming to be from a company called uk today, I have never heard of them, they wanted a minute of my time and wanted to know what the first letter of my name stood for so they could address me correctly I kept refusing saying they could keep calling me mr and my last name as that was addressing me correctly, the woman on the phone kept saying the call was being recorded. I stuck to my guns and said there was no way in hell they would be getting my first name, she got quite irate and hung up. I have only just stopped laughing. but who are they, is it a scam to get your details?
