Are Chase Ultimate Rewards worth signing up for?

I currently have a Chase Checking account. There is an option to sign up for Chase Ultimate Rewards which is supposed to be a point system for every dollar you spend and when you reach a certain amount of points you get some sort of reward. Does anyone have this reward system and if so, is it worth it? Is there a catch to it?
